Supporting Grief and Sharing Resources: The Brighter Days Grief Center

May 16, 2024

In a recent episode of the Bloom and Grow with Liz Fiedler podcast, I had the privilege of speaking with Lee Wilcox from the Brighter Days Grief Center. Lee shared with us the incredible work they do to support individuals and families experiencing grief. The Brighter Days Grief Center offers a wide range of free services, including grief therapy, counseling, support groups, workshops, and community outreach.

One of the standout services they provide is grief camps for children and families. These camps offer a safe and supportive environment for grieving individuals to connect with others who are going through similar experiences. It's truly heartwarming to see how the Brighter Days Grief Center is able to create a sense of community and understanding for those in need.

What's truly remarkable about the Brighter Days Grief Center is that it is privately funded through donations, sponsorships, and partnerships. This means that the services they provide are accessible to anyone in need, regardless of their financial situation. It's a testament to the generosity of the community and the importance of supporting each other in times of need.

During our conversation, Lee emphasized the importance of acknowledging and processing anger while grieving. Anger is a common and natural response to loss, yet it is often overlooked or suppressed. By allowing ourselves to feel and express our anger in healthy ways, we can begin to heal and move forward in our grief journey.

I also shared with Lee my upcoming book on how to be less angry while grieving. In writing this book, I hope to provide practical tools and strategies for managing anger in a constructive way. Grief is a complex and deeply personal experience, and it's important to have resources and support available to help navigate its ups and downs.

In conclusion, the Brighter Days Grief Center is a beacon of light for those navigating the dark waters of grief. Their free services and community-focused approach make them a valuable resource for anyone in need of support. If you or someone you know is struggling with grief, I encourage you to reach out to the Brighter Days Grief Center or a similar organization in your area. Remember, you are not alone, and there is always hope for brighter days ahead.
