About Liz
Dr. Liz Fiedler Mergen is a flower farmer, remarried widow, nurse practitioner, podcast host, and author whose work spans grief, rural entrepreneurship, agritourism, and financial preparedness. She is the founder of Sunny Mary Meadow, a sixth-generation farm in Central Minnesota that has grown from a roadside stand into a nationally recognized agritourism business with a floral studio, farm store, and event space.
After losing her husband suddenly in 2020 and discovering she was pregnant the next day, Liz began sharing her journey publicly—first through flowers, then through her podcast, and now in her upcoming memoir, Flowers Bloom Anyway (March 2026). Her story resonates with those navigating loss, reinvention, motherhood, and legacy.
A nationally recognized voice in floriculture and life preparedness, Liz speaks on grief, life insurance, rural business development, and healing through service. Her podcast, Rooted Agritourism, explores the future of agritourism and how family farms can thrive. Through Sunny Mary Meadow Coaching, she teaches farmers across the U.S. how to grow revenue without burnout.
Liz lives on the farm with her husband Brent and two daughters.
